Located on Rich Passage in west Puget Sound between Manchester and Port Orchard with a more than 180 degree view and beach front, the beach house is a rare find for an unforgettable weekend or a week or two vacation in any season. You will feel like you are much more remote than you actually are - less than an hour and a half from Seattle (just an hour from SeaTac airport) by car or by ferry. You will feel almost alone but in fact you are part of a small community along a beach road where neighbors are friendly...
if you want them to be or equally respectful of your preference to just be left alone. *Watch a wide variety of wildlife from inside the cozy living room or from the front deck which positions you almost over the water itself. Hear the 'pffft' of exhaling seals and watch them surface and dive as they feed on the outgoing tide. Watch eagles (yes eagles!) swoop into the neighboring trees clutching a small fish. Observe almost tame seagulls (they've been fed a bunch!) as well as cormorants and a variety of ducks *Cycle the backroads of south Kitsap. Just 7 miles, almost all flat, into Port Orchard for its antique shops, marina and interesting restaurants.even nightlife. Just 4 miles into Manchester with its public boat dock, restaurant/tavern and library. Or use the house as a home base for more energetic cycling in the surrounding area. You could even leave your car on the city side and cycle from the ferry (Southworth) - about 15 miles along a very attractive route popular with cycling clubs.*Speaking of ferries, you'll be just 15 minutes from the Southworth terminal of the Fauntleroy ferry from West Seattle (via Vashon Island - itself a great day trip) or 30 minutes from the Bremerton terminal of the Seattle ferry (to/from downtown Seattle). You'll even pass by the beach house itself as you come and go on the Bremerton-Seattle ferry!*Marvel at the many moods and colors of Mt. Rainier from the large deck with your morning coffee or evening glass of wine*Access your very own beach for just sitting at sea level and the fun of being close to the waves or taking off in your kayak to explore the rest of the waterfront either south/east to Manchester State Park or north/west toward Port Orchard. Or cross over the Passage to Bainbridge Island and paddle the shoreline with its more upscale properties or land in the nearby bay town of Linnwood complete with theater, restaurant and bakery.*Walk the low/no traffic beach road for exercise and the always fresh air or find the almost hidden access to paths through a nearby forest preserve and feel like you're in the Olympic National Forest. Which itself is just several hours north and a fascinating day trip, for example, to the spectacular virtually Alps-like views from Hurricane Ridge.*Drive in and out of the community back to the main road through the preserve being careful not to hit the small deer, the occasional fox and the ubiquitous raccoon families crossing the road.*Build a beach fire just to enjoy the crackle and sparks on a summer night and listen to the lapping of the waves.*Bask in the sun or to read a good book from a variety of locations around the property from the large deck to a protected side patio to grassy ( ) to the beach itself.*Survey the ever-changing boat parade out front from small motorcraft to luxury yachts to the romantic ferries shuttling along the Bremerton-Seattle run (a highly recommended route which in itself provides a variety of Puget Sound perspectivesAnd then there is the house itself, of course! Tastefully decorated with a nautical flavor and comfortably furnished, its hallmark is the original knotty pine paneling and homey natural fir floors. A 50's style fully stocked kitchen and a refurbished bathroom with shower/tub provide all the amenities to be self-sufficient. The two bedrooms are cozily and attractively appointed, one with queen and the other double twins. Large east-facing bay windows provide a constantly changing view with bright morning sun or the muted colors of sunset reflecting off the opposite shoreline.
