Information collected from all Members
When registering to become a member, we require that you supply a valid email address and that you supply minimal location information (state or province) and a first name. You must also supply a password of your choosing. This password you set will confirm your identity to us during the process of signing in.
We use your email address to send you administrative information, including a new password if you have forgotten yours. We use this email address to identify you when you sign in to give you the ability to save information that you are interested in.
As a convenience for you and at your request (through an opt-in check box), we will save your email address in a cookie. This cookie is used to fill in the email address for you when you reach our sign in page. With the "Remember my Email Address" box checked, we set this cookie to expire 60 days after the last time you signed in. If you uncheck the box before signing in, we will tell your browser to delete this cookie. If you are sharing a browser with others and feel that the cookie should not be used to fill in your email address, leave this box unchecked. Information is collected from users with paid listings and paid subscriptions.
If you decide to use our services to advertise your property, we collect enough additional information from you to properly submit charges through our merchant account. To protect our customers, we require accurate name, address, and credit card information so that charges are properly made.
If your account has recurring billing, we retain your credit card information for use until you have cancelled your account.
We recognize that we need to earn your trust, and firmly believe that you should know exactly what personally identifying information we collect and how we're going to use it before you share it with us.
Accessing your Information
Members may access their information through our web site by signing in with an email address and password. Our web site gives you access to all information associated with your identity. You are free to modify this information as needed.
Use of your Information by Rental Source
We monitor all access to our site and all information on our site to assure the integrity of our site, including the proper use of the site according to our published Terms of Service.
We gather usage statistics for our review to make decisions on changes to our site and to guide our marketing strategies.
We access specific user information in the process of managing the site and supporting the user. We share this information internally as required for proper operations and support.
Sharing your Information with others
On an ongoing basis, we make access statistics available to users with paid listings and paid subscriptions. This information is specific to the listings set up by those users. The statistics do not contain any information that can tie back to a specific user accessing the listing.
On occasion, we will provide site statistics for marketing reasons. This information does not include any information that ties use back to a specific user.
We execute charge transactions, with your authority, that sends information to credit card processing gateways and merchant bankers. This is the only time we share specific personal information outside of our site.
When a site user makes an information request for a specific property, we will collect contact information from the requester and pass the information to the property owner/manager so the property owner can respond to the request. This contact information is shared only with the property owner/manager.
We share no other information about our users or members.
Protecting your Information
Information is protected to prevent unauthorized access to member information. Credit card numbers are either not stored or stored only after being encrypted. Whenever confidential information is passed between a user and our site, we require that the information flow is protected with an HTTPS connection. We urge users of all web sites to protect their privacy by checking that an HTTPS connection is in place when exchanging confidential information and that the server certificate used to verify the connection is proper.
Links to other Sites
There are links to other web sites on Rental Source that take you outside our service. For example, if you "click" on a banner advertisement or a Rental Source search result, the "click" takes you off Rental Source. Such links include links from advertisers, sponsors and partners that may use the Rental Source logo as part of a co-branding agreement. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data or solicit personal information. Always be aware of where you end up!
The Rental Source policy applies only to pages served from Rental Source. Please take time to understand the policies of the sites you visit before sharing any information with the site.
Updates to this Policy
As our Web site evolves over time or our data handling policies change, we will update this privacy policy. Changes made to this policy will be effective ten days following the posting of the new policy on the Web site. If we make significant changes to our data handling practices, we will make efforts to notify our active customers in other reasonable ways that may include an administrative email or other notice. This privacy policy will be governed by the laws of the United States.
